Welcome
Welcome to the online home of the Foothills Weather Net.
The Foothills Weather Net exists to observe severe weather and report those observations so that accurate and timely warnings may be issued to the general public.
The Foothills Weather Net was created specifically to fill the need for spotters in the following counties: Burke, Cleveland, McDowell, Polk and Rutherford.
If you are a weather spotter in this area and would like to participate in our weather nets, please join us on the repeater at 145.270. Even if you are not a licensed amateur radio operator, you can still listen on a scanner.
The majority of the spotters in the Foothills Weather Net have been trained through the National Weather Service SKYWARN (tm) program and are certified SKYWARN spotters.
While many of our spotters are also licensed amateur radio operators it is not required. Having an amateur radio license is a great help. If you are not currently licensed, we would love to help you get your license and get on the air!
Please check back often as we will be constantly adding to this site.
